Confirmation means nothing

We have used VRBO several times before. So far we’ve been lucky and haven’t had much trouble. The issue I had recently involves their “quick confirmation” process. We booked a place, received a confirmation, paid in full, then got cancelled by the owner. Back to the drawing board. Wait 3 days for refund, then booked another place, received confirmation, paid in full, got cancelled by the owner. I spoke with someone in customer service who said “Don’t reserve anything until you message the owner and make sure the place is really available.”My question is-what good is a confirmation if the owner can cancel after you’ve paid? Why not call it a request to book and allow the owner to let you know BEFORE YOU PAY whether they will accept your request. I spent 4 days staring at my phone searching and searching. This process needs to be fixed

Awesome View

Absolutely the most awesome view from this home. You won't be disappointed. Owner was very responsive to all communication.The home was well furnished with linens, bedding, and cooking essentials. We will be back!

Mold in house

Update - VRBO did revise the case. We ended up getting some compensation for the issue. When the agent Katrina said below is accurate Original issue: First time using VRBO and there was mold in the house.They helped us get out of the house but said that we are not covered by their "book with confidence" program. They claimed black mold to be an allergy and that they would have just sent some cleaners.Meanwhile the entire home was covered in mold.Be careful when booking with VRBO - choose Airbnb.

I rented a vacation property in Florida…

I rented a vacation property in Florida and VRBO blocked my VRBOr eview. Said it needed work. Here it is.You decidemazing 5 Bed Single Family with Private Pool up to 12 Guests - 8992 CC 3 stars Property was spotlessly clean but not as grand as pics. Pool the size of large hot tub. Called property manager upon arrival and left message to ask where to park second car as I thought street spots were numbered for other condos. They never got back to me. I figured it out. Also, the advertisement pictures show a pool table. We really had plans to play pool at night- one of the reasons we took the place. But there was only one pool stick with a broken tip. Unusable. I texted owner who was very responsive to texted questions BEFORE we arrived. But not after we checked in. I explained situation and politely asked him if there was something that could be done etc. He never responded either. I did receive several communications from the property managers insisting that I send copies of my drivers license and credit card beforehand and a list of what I can and can’t do and costs for each item that is missing which seemed ironic. How about charging the previous person for breaking the cue stick and running out to Walmart and buying the new guests a stick. The general fees were extensive, extremely creative and exorbitant including a damage waiver that you don’t get back even if you don’t damage anything. I would not go back. Useless customer service.

I agree with several other posters that VRBO customer service is useless. I booked with one of their 'premium hosts' in March 2022. The property charged for extra guests. We originally thought we'd have extra guests but a few people dropped out. The owner has not refunded the extra guest payment and doesn't respond to any attempts to contact him. VRBO told me to negotiate with him and didn't do anything. I've referred it to my credit card company.

VRBO - awful for hosts, fine for renters

From a renter standpoint, I find VRBO totally fine. Have rented from here several times with no issues. But as a home owner trying to list on VRBO, this site is lucky to get 1 star. Have no idea why I can't get my listing live. AirBnB was super easy and got live in a day. VRBO's system is super dated and antiquated. So I responded to the "dedicated support rep" they assigned us, and she said to contact customer support. hahaha why assign someone to me. Tried to reach out to chat support and they ended chat as soon as I asked the question. Things are going swimmingly. I find it amusing when I want to give a company my business and they make it so difficult. Maybe I'll just stick with AirBnB

My plans changed a couple of times due to date changes in my schedule. This place was way more than accommodating me with that. Almost instant answers to any questions that I emailed to them. I haven't even been there yet but I know that it's going to be a wonderful experience!Thank you Vrbo!

A Father's Day weekend to remember

We just got back from our Fathers Day weekend at Bearadise! The cabin was fully stocked and very clean. The beds were comfortable, the game room complete with foosball table, pool table, assortment of games and DVDs not to mention the arcade game was perfect for unwinding after the day in the craziness & traffic of Pigeon. It was wonderful to kick back and enjoy our family. The pool was terrific and just a very short walk from the cabin. This is the Smokey Mountains so the walk down to the pool was a bit of a challenge for the "out of shaper" in our group but she did it. I can't say enough about our host! Susan was quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. Thank you Susan! A great time was had by all
