I made a mistake in my booking

I made a mistake in my booking. I called expecting to be completely out the money I paid since the error was my fault. To my delight they were completely helpful and assisting me, no questions asked. I travel a lot and will definitely use hotels.com often based on this experience

Amazingly easy

Amazingly easy. Wait time was 46 minutes but the CSR was very calm and professional. She was able to help me get a refund on a non-refundable room charge due to COVID 19 policies. I was done in less than 5 minutes and have a verbal reference number (in case the email didn't come) and I now have an email version stating I will receive a full refund. I've read some of the negative reviews but I honestly did not have that experience. Good luck to all and stay safe!

Positive attitude from customer support during coronavirus period

I`ve been using Hotels.com for years. I haven`t had negative experience but I usually prefer other booking websites more because their support is easily reachable. Having said this, I`ve made many reservations through Hotels.com too. I am writing this review about Hotels.com because most of us have had reservations during the Covid-19 outbreak and I am sure you`ve all had negative experience dealing with cancellation issues related to flights and hotels. I also experienced some good and some bad cases so I feel it is right to publish a positive comment for Hotels.com in a time when many airlines and accommodation websites tried to benefit from the situation and didn`t offer their customers refund for a reservation during the coronavirus period. In brief: We had booked a hotel for March 27th (non-refundable). As March was approaching we started realizing that this trip was not possible because of the quarantine in our home country and the unsuitable period for travelling to UK having in mind that many tourist sites would have been closed. So we decided to cancel the trip and the hotel booking. We tried contacting Hotels.com over the phone but we couldn`t reach them as all lines were busy. In the meantime, we saw a message on Hotels.com website saying that if your trip is within the next week you should be expecting an e-mail from them. We received such e-mail 6 days before our scheduled stay in the hotel. Hotels.com provided several options for us to decide what to do with the reservation. One of them was to cancel this non-refundable booking without any cost. We chose this option and were informed that we`d receive a full refund but due to the unprecedented volume of travel disruptions, refunds may take up to 30 days to process. I am pleased to confirm that in 3 weeks I received the refund automatically to my credit card. I use this opportunity to express my gratitude to Hotels.com for taking care of their customers and not causing them additional expenses for a trip that failed because of circumstances beyond control. I wish I could say the same for Booking.com but my other reservation for our next upcoming trip was not refunded by them and we were left dealing with the property itself which refused payment for our non-refundable reservation. Anyway, I`ll keep on using Hotels.com for future reservations as customer support and assistance matter and deserve a little loyalty.

I like it but you just have to review…

I like it but you just have to review your information twice just in case to get everything fine if you don't youll have to call a whole bunch of people to help you out again and they could be rude sometimes

We have been long term customers of hotels.com, and for the most part, it has not been too bad, hence the reason we have been long term...but we have definitely experienced some hiccups for sure!The hiccup of today is what drove me to this rating page...we have a booking for tonight, Went online today just to get directions for our stay tonight, only to find out that if we were booking today, rather than a few months ago as the responsible people that we are, we would be saving a ton of money. I called in to Customer Service, expecting that there would be some sort of price match---but nope. I am literally one day late to be able to do that, according to their "terms and conditions"...I asked to speak to a supervisor, expecting that surely more could be done...Surprising that for LONG TIME CUSTOMERS such as we are, there is no loophole offered to folks like me who go the extra effort to call in and request help. So, I guess we just end up paying extra money. Now I know one of the ways in which they stay in business. I rated this as "average" because we have had some good experiences...but yes, "average" describes this company at this point, since like so many other companies out there, goodwill is not the first order of the day, but the almighty dollar.Adding to this a little later---I get that there are policies in place. Clearly, I did not know as I have never had reason to need to delve deeply into their "Price Match Guarantee" policy before...but I think at the very least they could adopt a "grace point" policy as well, for first time/unaware instances like this with long time customers who make the effort to call in and ask for help. I have a small business, and I have offered Grace extras on so many occasions, because it is the right thing to do. After that, people for sure know how whatever system you have operates, but they will also remember your kindness. Obviously, I now know that it would be good to go to the website at least one day before booking to make sure price has not lowered! But this lesson is costing me $50 for no real reason other than red tape and corporate policy---despite my having used this website for YEARS. and, this lesson has made me more cautious/mistrusting of hotels.com

Booked lot of time with hotels.com, several countries (europe, africa..), always worked very well. Much of the time, the price is cheaper than competitors. Never had any problem with them !

I am stunned reading all the negative…

I am stunned reading all the negative reviews for Hotels.com. I have used them for more than 8 years and have never had a bit of trouble. Now, I have had a couple of hotels that overcharged me or were not as described on the site, but that is on them not Hotels.com. Never had any trouble with customer service either. With that being said, I don't like the new $5 charge for redeeming my free days from my laptop. I understand the fee does not apply if I use the mobile app, but I prefer the desktop version.

I had made plans to visit family in Indiana for the holidays, but today ended up in the hospital with a heart issue.
