A little bit frightening at times...

Harmless enough if you want some background horror to enjoy. Nothing too special, but I’ve had some good laughs at some of the dreadful acting in some of the movies.

It's just OK.

I missed the cut-off to cancel my free trial period (my fault) so am still using. Pros: A streaming site dedicated solely to horrors, some of which are normally hard to locate. Cons: There's no app so Shudder can only be used on the website itself; which is a bit of a let down in this day and age. I do not trust the movie reviews from other users, I feel they are not honest as the majority of movies have high ratings, even the god awful movies. I also cannot see the reviews I have left which is very disappointing that clearly they are manipulating the scoring.

I’m revising my last review. I gave them such a poor one & it wasn’t entirely fair cuz I do love their movies & selection. My roku on my other tv wasn’t playing it & thought I lost it entirely but it plays on my other roku in my bedroom so I’m just gonna watch it in here instead.

AVOID the app

AVOID the app, use the Channel through Amazon Prime.The app is singularly bad, the "free 7 day trial" is a bit misleading when it's SO difficult to cancel. I tried that and couldn't even watch anything on my iPhone or amazon tablet.HOWEVER, the channel is available through Prime and they have a 30 day free trial option (on .co.uk at least) which is plenty of time to watch what you want and decide if you want to pay for it later. Hell House LLC trilogy, Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, Grave Encounters, all well worth watching. It's such a shame because honestly, a "Netflix" just for horror would be the dream. Maybe concentrate on the channel, forget the app? Or put some serious work into the app.

Unauthorised transaction

My CBA debit card was also charged $8.16. I called shudder, and they said that someone had subscribed with my debit card using an email address I never had. They removed the account and told me to contact my bank to reissue my cards and file a dispute.

Shudder is great!

Shudder is great! Not sure about all the complaints below. Decent selection of movies and show plus they have some original Shudder exclusives. There's 3 channels that play movies all day long if you like to just have something on in the background. The price is great! Super cheap compared to most streaming services. Only a handful of times I have had an issue with no picture or the sound was off... that was due to device I was using to stream with. A simple reboot fixes any issue. If you are having problems with buffering etc it may very well just be your device or your internet connection. Shudder is a great affordable service with a decent selection for the horror fan!

Shudder isn't responsible for those unauthorised charges

Like a lot of you, I have also had an unauthorised charge to Shudder on my Commonwealth Bank debit card for $8.14 last week. There appears to be a LOT of us in this boat. I'm also frustrated, but it's not Shudder's fault - they are a legitimate streaming company owned by AMC. Shudder isn't to blame for this. It's no different to someone using a stolen credit card at a physical store - it's not the store's fault, it's the person who stole it. My 5-star rating is based on the communication I have had with Shudder over this. They responded quickly, and were able to cancel the account that had used my details. Please contact Shudder and let them know, and then cancel your card through your bank.

I am gonna keep true to my word

I am gonna keep true to my word. They told me how to fix the problem. Now I will give them a better rating. They do have a good selection of movies. However if you are looking for mainstream only horror flicks then you are gonna be wasting yer time. That said: Unless you have had a pure awful experience I would say give em a shot.

I don’t why the below reviews are here, I can only suspect it’s a pissy customer creating multiple profiles to get back. Cancellation was as easy as going on the site and clicking unsubscribe. To double check I emailed Shudder to confirm who got back to me within 24 hours. Easy. Don’t know what the drama is all about.

OK I am an idiot and signed up three times!. I think that if you ever want to cancel this can be a mixed experience. First time; I cancelled my free trial as the movie selection was so small I had seen everything within a week (this was back when it started) but I ended up being charged three consecutive months after cancelling, re-cancelling, re-cancelling and had no joy at all from contacting customer services which was an automated thing and decided i had no case (although I had not used the service since cancelling...), finally managed to cancel by email but I cant remember to which address.Second time around! I cancelled and the cancellation worked but they gave me an extended free trial, so I used that and then cancelled and was not charged so that was a good experience :) although I think I would have been partly to blame for signing up again (fool me once, ill sign up again apparently)! This time is my third time signing up, actually I had used the trial with Amazon and then wanted to continue watching a film on there (BTW - amazon prime shudder and Shudder/shudder do not have the same film lists) then I just forgot to cancel but this time I am not mad about it as they get some unusual horror movies in the mix and I miss the cinema (this year is the pandemic year) so it felt like £47 for the year with all the free trials I have received is a good deal. I am setting a reminder to cancel next year though as I dont want a random sum like that popping off.
